Encyt Technologies, Inc.

Research scientist and Board Certified Medical Oncologist, Dr Harless received his PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Texas in Austin before earning his medical degree from the University of Texas in Galvaston. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois where he also taught in the Department of Pathology and Internal Medicine. Dr Harless completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at West Virginia and went on to conduct his research and to work as a Hematologist and Oncologist at Vidalia Regional Cancer Center in Vidalia, Georgia, then later at the Tunnell Cancer Center at the Beebe Medical Center in Maryland. Most recently, Dr Harless has continued his research and medical practice at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Nova Scotia where he previously served as Medical Director of the cancer center. Dr Harless has concentrated his research on discovering how the wound healing pathway triggered after cancer treatments may facilitate the growth and metastasis of surviving cancer cells. On the basis of his research discoveries, Dr Harless has filed for two provisional patents: One on targeting cancer cells rapidly after surgery by disrupting specific cytokine networks, and a second patent on a molecular test that can predict which cancer patients still harbour micrometastatic disease after cancer surgery.
